TONY Blair has made several comments about the looming disaster at Throckmorton and the knock-on effect for Worcester, Pershore and Evesham.
Could I suggest that our Prime Minister, when on his frequent journeys abroad, takes note of something he has obviously overlooked - that the British Isles are surrounded by water and faces problems quite unlike those the Europeans face with adjoining borders.
So, when he says we must address the problem of illegal asylum seekers when they're here, why not put enough manpower into our ports and airports and adopt the age-old saying of prevention is better than cure?
This Government is totally reactive and not in the least pro-active. Of course, the Danes, after giving Britain the bacon, are now showing Britain how to handle the illegal asylum seekers problem.
But with no papers, there's no work, no work, no benefits and no staying in Denmark.
BRIAN HUNT,
Worcester.
