A YOUNG football team set up to get children off the streets is struggling to find a sponsor for its kit.
The squad, from Ronkswood Community Centre, in Canterbury Road, plays in white T-shirts bought from a market stall.
Although the keen youngsters are not complaining, they are hoping a sponsor may step forward to give them a full-time football kit to be proud of.
The newly-formed team have already managed to get their t-shirts muddy in one competitive match.
And, with training every week, they are hoping the white shirts, which need lots of cleaning, may soon be about to go.
The aim, according to community worker Sharon Wilding, is to form a youth club league with other community centres across the city and bring youngsters from different estates together through sport.
She is currently working with Worcester Action for Youth to set up friendlies during the summer to gauge the potential.
"It was the young people who use the centre who suggested having a team and their input has been fantastic," said Mrs Wilding.
"They have even drawn up a list of rules which every squad member signs to say they will come to training and support the team.
"It has given the youngsters on the estate lots of discipline and organisational skills, as well as getting them fit."
The scheme for the under-18s has proved so popular, the centre is also starting an under-13 squad.
Although the creation of a league is still at an early stage, Mrs Wilding said there had been a positive reaction from centres across the city.
"When people grow up on an estate it can be very insular - you tend to stop in just one area," she said.
"So even if people only manage to get out into other areas of the city, it is still a chance for change and for people to get active."
Anyone who can sponsor the team with a new kit can contact Sharon Wilding at Ronkswood Community Centre on 01905 359578.
