KING'S School, Worcester won by six wickets in the annual battle with their old rivals Royal Grammar School - despite an excellent century from RGS captain, James Watkins.
The annual clash between the two schools at Worcestershire County Cricket Club's New Road ground was keenly contested and full of runs, and it was opening batsman Watkins who led the way for RGS.
His unbeaten 111 was his maiden first-team century, and formed the basis of a total of 221-6 in 60 overs, with Dominic Harris (34) providing his main support.
Left-arm spinner Tom Cullen was the best bowler for King's with 2-16 in 12 overs, supported well by medium-pacer Will Smith, who finished with 2-33 in 12 overs.
King's were left with 52 overs to reach their target of 222, which they achieved with seven overs to spare to avenge a 16-run defeat in the corresponding fixture last year.
Skipper Nick Major's unbeaten 64 led the way to victory for King's, and valuable supporting roles were played by Phil Burdon (40) and Jamie Gwynne (33).
Miles Illingworth, son of former Worcestershire and England ace Richard, was the most successful RGS bowler with 2-49 from 10 overs with his left-arm spin.
