PARENTS who pack their children off to sports activity days this summer are being warned to check the instructors are qualified.
The NSPCC, backed by ITV World Cup presenter Gabby Logan and bookies Ladbrokes, issued the warning as part of its Full Stop campaign to stamp out child cruelty.
It has issued a leaflet, Have Fun & Be Safe, which includes a safety checklist for summer, tips on warning signs to check for, plus a special Dads 'n' Lads competition featuring sports stars.
"Not all organisations offering children's activities are required to register, yet they must still provide a safe environment for your child," said Mary Marsh, NSPCC director.
"Parents and carers have both a right and responsibility to ensure their children are safe at all times.
"This new leaflet is an essential checklist for them to use before the summer starts."
Copies of the leaflet are available in Ladbrokes betting shops.
