DESPERATE pleas by residents in a troubled area of Alcester have been answered by police.
Residents in the Gas House Lane area have been calling for months for something to be done about drunken troublemakers on weekend evenings.
Cars and property have been vandalised, people have been screaming and swearing until the early hours of the morning, car bonnets have been jumped on and residents left to clean up broken glass and vomit on pavements.
After complaints to the police, Insp Tim Bailey said officers would be targeting the area in a push to curb the nuisance behaviour.
Now an Alcester councillor who had complained about the trouble has praised the police response.
Mr Ward urged residents who saw trouble to report it immediately and not leave it to elderly residents who may be scared of repercussions if they reported incidents.
