FIVE years of dedication will have paid off for youngsters in Wootton Wawen when they receive their new home.
In 1997, members of the 1st Henley and Wootton Scout Group made a promise to work towards a new hut and this week they will unveil their dream.
The hut cost £20,000 and was paid for by a series of donations and fund-raising initiatives by Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts.
Among contributors were Severn Trent Water, which made a gift of the shell of the building, and businessman Andy Waterworth whose civil engineering company dug the footings.
Other grants were made by Stratford Council, the parish councils of Henley and Beaudesert, Ullenhall and Wootton Wawen, St John's Parish Church and the National Lottery.
About 70 youngsters aged from six-18, including a number of girls, attend regular meetings at the new hut.
Group chairman Richard Evans said: "Our previous hut was quite literally falling apart around our ears. We've received a lot of help, especially from parents who chipped in to help with painting and other jobs.
