MEDALS might have been missing for Bromsgrove Olympique Cycling Club's youth riders last weekend but there was still cause for celebration in Lichfield.
Ross Dingley and Alex Billington were the top two riders for Olympique at the Curborough Sprint course for the Lichfield Classic two-day stage race.
The pair fought it out among the leaders at the event, featuring six Olympique cyclists, with Dingley finishing ninth in Saturday's time trial, three places ahead of Billington.
Billington took two fifth places and a third in Sunday's circuit races but, in the end, Dingley pipped him by four seconds to finish fifth overall, one place ahead of his team mate.
Other results saw Craig Talbot finish eighth and Genny Billington come home in tenth. Leanne Talbot took twelfth place. In the U16s, Chris McDonald finished fifteenth in his debut road race.
Elsewhere, in the Midlands Specialised Series at Eastnor, Peter Banham had a superb ride to take third place while Matt Lee rode to a fifth place in the U16s.
Halesowen's Friday night track league was rained off.
This Saturday sees circuit racing at West Park, Wolverhampton, and the third round of the Welsh Cross Country Series.
