I AM amazed that Chief Superintendent Patsy Lord considers Redditch a safe place to live (Advertiser, July 3).
In the past few weeks, I have witnessed several assaults or threats to members of the public, most of them in the town centre.
My daughter's boyfriend was robbed locally but refused to allow me to call the police because she would then suffer the same treatment.
We have police working alone and often unable to prevent trouble because they are outnumbered.
First Travel buses are not safe, as we know of several assaults including a stabbing.
The bus drivers have no way of alerting the police although apparently Pete's Travel does have a phone service.
Redditch is rife with underage drinking; school children play truant and drink in the town centre without fear of being apprehended.
Redditch safe? I would leave tomorrow were it not for my children's schooling situation.
And for Patsy Lord to be making such a comment shows she clearly is not in tune with the area's needs and problems.
