REDDITCH property consultant John Truslove turned in a class winning display driving an ex-works Triumph Spitfire rounding the tight streets of Pau in France, just north of the Pyrenees.
The Redditch race ace was making a return trip to Pau to partner Richard Lloyd, former Bentley team manager at Le Mans, in a shared drive of the 1960 Triumph Spitfire which was one of the prototype models developed by the company, but never sold.
John and Richard tackled the one-hour endurance race and won their class comfortably in the 1147cc Spitfire, which was prepared by ex-Triumph works mechanic Peter Clark.
As well as winning their class they took on six full race spec MGBs with engines ranging from 1800 to 2 litre, leaving all but one in their dust.
