The Rev WJ Wray, who has been minister of Redditch Congregational Church for the last 21 years, has handed in his resignation to Mr FG Heaphy the church secretary.
In a letter to Mr Heaphy, Mr Wray says "after nearly 21 years of a warm and happy fellowship it is not easy for me to write this letter to you as secretary of Redditch Congregational Church but I feel that the time has arrived for me to lay down the active ministry.
Mr Wray has played an active part in most phases of the town life - civic, social, cultural - and some of his most notable achievements include the formation of a Rotary Club in the town.
