THE annual match for the Wood Power Trophy saw the Hereford Cricket League defeat the Worcester Evening League by 19 runs.
Hereford scored 151-5 with L Jams scoring 50, A Mawdsley 24, Walker 19 and A Jones 18. Brian Howorth took 4-40 and James Wagstaff 1-27.
Matt Cross (36) batted well for Worcester and although there were big sixes from Andy Knowles, Wagstaff and Andy Howorth, they all perished to brilliant catches.
There were late runs from Olly Bendall (21), Duncan Cooper (17) and Matt Blackbourne (10no) but Worcester fell short on 132.
In Division One of the Worcester League, Joph Young was the only Ombersley batsman to show any resistance against Colwall, scoring 83 out of 123.
Pete Thomas (68no) and Tom Wolfendale (44no) knocked off the runs for Colwall in an unbroken partnership to keep them top of the table.
Rushwick stayed top of Division Two with a seven-wicket win over Worcester Commoners.
