PARAMEDIC crews in Bromsgrove, Droitwich Spa and Rubery will soon carry a clot-busting heart drug which could prove a life saver for residents.
Hereford and Worcester Ambulance Service is piloting the thrombolotic drug in Kidderminster and plans to "roll it out" to all areas by next year.
Currently it's only available in hospitals but soon mercy crews will have full training in administering the drug.
And hospital medics will be able to monitor the patient's condition via a hi-tech machine on board the ambulance - linked to the hospital.
The drug attacks clots around the heart and has already saved two lives in Kidderminster.
The NHS wants all UK crews to carry the drug by next year and the ambulance service's locality manager for north Worcestershire, Roger Job, said it should be in use across the district within 12 months.
He added: "This is definitely good news for patients."
