MATHS buffs at a Spa school found their talent added up to success when they received some of the highest results in a national challenge that the school has ever got.
Thirty-nine pupils from Witton Middle School, in Old Coach Road, entered the UK Junior Maths Challenge. The year seven students were tested on a variety of maths skills where they had to answer a number of multiple choice questions. Thirty children achieved certificates this year with nine receiving gold, ten getting silver and 11 picking up a bronze award.
Assistant headteacher and maths teacher, Maureen Alton-Collins said: "This is an excellent achievement and our best ever result.
"All of the students who took part did very well and should be proud of themselves."
