WHILE most girls will be thinking about the beach and boys this summer, one talented town teenager will also have TV appearances and international concert performances on her mind.
Seventeen-year-old Katie Gardner, of Stourbridge Road, Fairfield, will set off for the Commonwealth Games, in Manchester, the BBC Proms and Belgium with the City of Birmingham Symphony Youth Chorus this summer.
The chorus, which has made numerous television appearances, was formed in 1994 and is now established as one of the country's leading youth choirs.
CBSO chorus manager Baz Chapman said: "Singing with the CBSYC is a great musical education for keen singers and a passport to some of the finest concert halls in the world.
"This summer they are involved in a number of prestigious engagements also including the 40th anniversary of Coventry Cathedral. Straight after they fly to Ghent to perform in the Flanders festival."
