USERS of Redditch mental health day centre Orchard Place are embarking on a new catering scheme.
The Seven Cooks Diner Catering Project aims to provide training and employment for people with mental health difficulties and improve their confidence and self-esteem.
It is a supported training project which offers more than 30 people with long-term mental health needs the chance to work and train in a supportive environment, gain new skills and obtain professional qualifications.
Social Services is working in partnership with independent charity Tripod, NEW College and the Worcestershire Mental Health Partnership Trust to provide opportunities in training, education and employment for people with mental health difficulties.
Tripod projects co-ordinator Michelle Oliver said the project had been more successful than they could have hoped for, with a number of clients having moved on to full-time work placements and even mainstream employment.
