CUTNALL Green CC First XI's promotion challenge came unstuck in dramatic fashion last Saturday as they suffered their heaviest defeat of the season.
Green crashed to a ten-wicket mauling at Hewell in Worcestershire County League division five but still hold on to fourth place.
Matthew Harris' side were skittled out for just 116, virtually handing their hosts victory on a plate.
The opportunity was gratefully accepted by Hewell opening batsmen N Sutton and A Smith as they hit 69 not out and 49no respectively for a comfortable victory.
Things got slightly better on Sunday as Green were held to a draw at home to king's Norton.
Batting first, the visitors posted 213-5, leaving Green a tough target. But the hosts set about their task and Harris (42no) top scored as his side held on for 159-8 and a draw.
