A NEW David Lloyd fitness centre is set to open in Bromsgrove before the end of the summer.

The £8m club, which is the 51st David Lloyd Leisure Club in the UK and Ireland, is due to open on August 27.

Work on the project has been ongoing in recent months, and the new centre is situated on Slideslow Drive, which is located off the main A38 road to Birmingham, minutes from Junction 1 off the M42, next door to a new Brewsters and Travel Inn.

The club boasts a host of state-of-the-art facilities including an air-conditioned gymnasium, two group exercise studios, five outdoor tennis courts, three championship squash courts, and two swimming pools.

Gareth Jones, aged 29, from Doncaster, has been appointed general manager of the club, making the short move from Solihull, where he has been general manager for the past two years.

"I am very pleased to be heading up David Lloyd's newest club," he said.

"After spending the last seven years with David Lloyd Leisure.

"I'm ready to take on a new challenge and managing a brand new club is the perfect opportunity."
