WORCESTERSHIRE Wildlife Trust invited Redditch families to play nature detectives at Alders Nature Reserve during a 'Discovery Day' on Sunday.
Visitors went for a ramble through marshland, streamside woodland and meadows, watching the butterflies, birds, flowers and meadow plants as they proceeded.
The trust's Watch Team were on hand to co-ordinate youngsters' activities, including pond dipping to discover the 'minibeasts' of the deep.
Some activities were held in Winyates Green Community Centre.
The event was free but donations towards the work of Worcestershire Wildlife Trust were welcomed.
