A GROUP of girls from a Worcester school proved to be too much for the boys when they beat them in a swimming contest.
St Mary's Convent School girls trounced youngsters from other Catholic schools in Worcestershire during a competition organised by their teachers.
The competition, part of a series of sports events run by the Catholic Teachers Association, took place at Bromsgrove's Dolphin Centre.
Bridget Williams, headteacher at the Battenhall Avenue school, said: "Generally, boys are faster than girls at swimming, so to beat the schools with boys in their teams is quite an achievement."
"It is a reflection of the school's commitment to sports and activities and demonstrates how hard both the girls and teaching staff worked."
