JUDO: Two adult Samurai players made their mark at the Southern Area Senior Open at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre, London.
Promising Paul Clarke won bronze in his category and could have done better but for illness.
The more experienced Keith Waldron, a third-level black belt, fought in the veteran section and carved his way spectacularly through a series of top players on his way to the final.
Waldron faced a tough match with a high-quality ex-British international but had to settle for silver after an excellent shoulder throw ended an entertaining contest.
