I TOOK my dog for our usual daily walk over Springfield Park recently.
This is a wonderful open area for everybody to enjoy.
There is a wooden bridge over the stream for access to the park and Sion Hill estate.
Some mindless vandals had cut through a whole section of railings with a saw, making it very dangerous for people, of all ages, to pass.
They did not take the wood away for their own use, they just threw it into the stream.
These criminals have no idea how lucky they are to live near open areas of countryside.
My childhood was spent in Greater London in the 1950s.
To reach the countryside it was a 10-minute walk to catch a bus, and a seven-mile journey on it.
I hope these vandals are caught and either they, or their parents, pay for the damage.
