PETITIONS have been launched for a cinema to be built in Kidderminster, but do we really think it would prosper?
I was a regular cinema-goer over the years and was not happy to see the Stourport and Kidderminster ones go.
However, numbers visiting the cinema dwindled in the '70s. Films were not really family entertainment, and were geared for the young, with much violence and sex.
People started watching more television and videos.
Why did all these cinemas close in this area, may I ask?
Was it too costly to run them or was it because the films shown were not suitable for family viewing?
Or was it too costly to visit the cinema?
