TWO pensioners from the Vale of Evesham may have died from asbestos poisoning, an inquest heard.
Worcestershire coroner Victor Round said at the hearings on Ivor Rennison and Wilfred Rollason at Worcester on July 3, that both deaths, which were unrelated, could have been caused by contact with asbestos during their working lives.
Mr Rennison, aged 76, a retired chief petty officer with the Royal Navy, of Greenhill, Evesham, died on February 16. Mr Rollason, aged 86, of Parkwood, Elmley Castle, died in Pershore Cottage Hospital on June 29.
Mr Round said Mr Rennison was diagnosed as having asbestosis in 1979 and was in receipt of the industrial injury pension. Mr Rollason used blue asbestos as a packing material during his working life.
A verdict of death from industrial disease was recorded on Mr Rennison and the inquest on Mr Rollason was adjourned for further investigation.
