At the June meeting Dr Barrie Davies told of his life in the medical profession.
Arriving in Kidderminster in 1969, he joined a GP practice and realised the need for a service able to respond immediately to an emergency - either injury or illness - and able to provide qualified assistance while waiting for an ambulance.
Together with fellow doctors he set up the Flying Doctor Service.
He later joined an organisation concerned with escorting patients back to Britain from abroad, who were too ill or injured to travel unaccompanied.
This meant being able to fly out at any time, anywhere, and could involved lengthy periods away from home.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday in the Trinity Centre, Kidderminster, at 2pm.
Countryside ranger Colin Cross will talk about his work in the Wyre Forest Countryside Service.
