Alwyn Stanley was the demonstrator on June 24 and after the first arrangement, using a copper urn holding foliage, green chrysanthemums, arum lilies and philadelphus she demonstrated the art of Ikebana.
Mrs Stanley has been learning the Japanese art for eight years and showed the members her certificate from Japan. Using the minimum of flowers and utensils the arrangements were displayed in front of a reed mat.
She finished with a traditional arrangement of red roses and alchemilla mollis between slices of polished wood.
