THE NFU Food and Farming Roadshow will be in Stratford town centre this Friday to round off its tour of the West Midlands.
The Roadshow is the spearhead of a national campaign by the NFU to close the growing information gap between the consumer and farming in Britain.
It has a series of displays, including a "working" dairy cow, a computer linking youngsters to the NFU's Friendly Farm Club and a posse of local farmers on hand to answer questions.
Host, Lancashire farmer Johnny Ball said: "For some people, particularly youngsters, the Roadshow is their first contact with a farmer and farming. The amount of interest in the industry and the level of surprise among the public at some of the answers has made this one of my most rewarding challenges after many years in farming."
Some of the most frequently asked questions are: What time do farmers get up in the morning? What is the difference between black and white cows and other cattle? Why do we import so much produce from abroad? And What is the main crop grown in Britain?
