THE storm over play area provision in Wyre Forest is rumbling on with Bewdley Town Council bidding to take over the running of two town sites.
Wyre Forest District Council has proposed retaining four major play areas as part of an urgent drive to make £3 million budget cuts over two years, with unsafe equipment being removed from its 13 other sites which would then be grassed over - plans which were slammed by a watchdog committee.
Now a decision taken as part of the cash cuts not to fill the paddling pool in Northwood Lane, Bewdley, has sparked further outrage.
A town council meeting heard some relatively minor drainage work was required to bring the pool up to a usable standard.
The district council is keen to work with partners willing to take on play areas and town councillors have decided to hold talks with it over a formal maintenance agreement for the Northwood Lane site and a play area at Wyre Hill.
