STONE were unable to fully recover from a terrible start as they were beaten by eight wickets at Worcester Corinthians in Worcestershire Saturday League Division Five.
A probing opening spell from Abdul Kadoos (2-26) and Sajid Ali (2-24) on a poor wicket had the visitors in big trouble at 33-4 off 20 overs.
Opener Dean Aldridge (41) and Nick Powell (56) then put on 80 runs in 18 overs to give Stone hope and they finished on a respectable 145-8 from their 45 overs.
In reply, the home side were pegged back by the bowling of Pete Durnell, Rob Smith and Pete Glover and were struggling halfway through their innings.
But Paul Hill and Tariq Hussain, aided by wides, full tosses and several difficult dropped catches, saw Corinthians comfortably home.
Stone 145-8,
Worcester Corinthians 148-2.
