BUDDING engineers from St Mary's Convent Preparatory School had designs on a regional competition.
Two pupils from the school's engineering club were chosen to go through to the next round of the competition at Birmingham University.
The school's Young Engineers Club is organised by Evesham College, who send retired engineers to share their expertise with the pupils.
"An independent judge from The Young Engineers went around all the schools looking at what the pupils had designed," said head teacher Susan Cookson.
"They had to make a sound engineering construction and were judged on the quality of their design and their ability to present their ideas."
The school's finalists, Gabi Williams and Jordan Ray were chosen to go through to the regional heat, at Birmingham University, on Friday, July 5. However, they did not qualify for the next round.
Mrs Cookson said the pair had done very well and the engineering club was very popular in the school.
"They really enjoy it and are very enthusiastic about it," said Mrs Cookson.
