HOT-AIR balloons, colourful medieval jousting and displays of radio-controlled planes, cars and boats will feature in Eastnor Castle's Fun-Fest 2002 next weekend (July 20 and 21).

Set in the Deer Park in the castle's beautiful grounds, the new Fun-Fest has been organised by Upton-based Traplet Publications with the aim of providing activity-packed fun for families. Previously Traplet, who publish 13 craft and models titles, have run model-flying events at Old Warden Aerodrome.

On both Saturday and Sunday, the West Midlands Balloon Club will launch more than 20 balloons at sunrise and sunset.

Demonstrating their skilful jousting talents in authentic medieval costume on Sunday will be The Knights of Royal England. The members of the National Jousting Association use three tons of props, including flats, a royal box and mediaeval tents, to create a memorable jousting tournament arena in which to demonstrate their stunts, falls, fights and galloping horses.

Elsewhere, enthusiasts of radio -controlled boats, aircraft and model cars will be taking part in displays and races, while an old-fashioned fairground and bouncy castle will provide plenty of diversions for children.

Marquees will offer craft stalls and a modellers' bring-and-buy sale, as well as food and drinks.

Organiser Liz Lane said: "This our first event our own on solo site and it's going to be a real family affair with something for everybody. We are expecting people to come from far and wide."

Tickets £6/£4 OAP, family tickets £16 with reduced price entry to Eastnor Castle on Sunday. Camping is also available in the Deer Park. To book or for further information, call 01684 595300 or visit www.fun-fest.co.uk.
