WORCESTERSHIRE won the toss and asked Malvern to bat first.
MALVERN CC v WORCESTERSHIRE U16s
Getting the ball away was very difficult with the accurate opening bowlers of Haines and Siwicki (1-26). After 16 overs Malvern only had 40 on the board. Arnold 923), Walker (17) and Evans (17) all made contributions but one established themselves at the wicket got themselves out.
Carter (49) and Francis (33) shared a useful partnership and with some hefty blows towards the end by Young (11no). Malvern reached 191-7 off their 45 overs.
After gorgeous teas, which included the stickiest flapjacks of the season so far, Worcestershire went out to bat and made a good start. Rees (20) and Barrett (31).
Croft then had to leave the field after being hit on the ankle by a ball and this left Malvern a bowler short.
Francis (4-69 off 16 overs) bowled a couple of hostile spells. Hooper (1-32 off 12 overs) also bowled an excellent spell. Raymond (65) played some really nice shots putting Worcestershire in a winning position.
Then came the two highlights of the day with Evans taking two wonderful diving catches in the gully.
However, Rose (24no) and Siwicki (25no) saw Worcs to victory with nine balls left.
