A BARBECUE and fete day organised to raise funds for the refurbishment of Upton Primary School's outdoor play areas on Saturday raised £2,750.
Rupert Chambers, chairman of the Friends of Upton Primary School, hailed the event as a "smashing success" and said the total needed for the work to start had almost been reached.
"It had a tremendous atmosphere and a great gathering of pupils, parents, friends and visitors," he said.
"The Friends would like to thank sponsors, local companies and traders who gave prizes for the raffle, helpers who set up and ran stalls and everyone who turned up for making the event such a great success."
