CONCERNS that an 18-month old speed gun bought by the Malvern Highways Partnership for Powick had been broken and removed from service have been scotched by police.
PC Mike Digger, traffic management officer for Worcester, said a microchip in the £700 hand-held piece of equipment had been replaced after a fault was discovered. As a result it requires a Type Approval Certificate from the Association of Chief Police Officers before it can be returned to use.
Until the machine is reapproved police will temporarily use an older piece of equipment.
