I WAS astonished to read in last weeks' Malvern Gazette the item headed "One-stop shop plan unveiled by councils".
We are already supposed to have such a shop, run by Malvern Town Council, in its expensive new offices on Belle Vue Terrace.
As I recall the debate, one of the main arguments for the purchase of Manders was the use of the premises as an information centre, by all types of organisations including both district and county councils.
Why does the district council and the county council believe they have to set up a separate information centre in the library?
Is it because they do not know what the town council is supposed to be doing or is it because the Manders premises are unsuitable? We can be sure that the end result will be yet more expense to be born by the long-suffering council tax payers!
