A SUGGESTION that £11,000 of the Malvern Millions should be spent on two sheep sculptures is to be considered by the district council's executive committee on Tuesday (July 16).
A resident of the district has asked the council to buy the sculptures, which previously inhabited Malvern Theatres' foyer, to be placed at the foot of the Wayside Cross when it is re-installed on Belle Vue Island.
"This was considered an appropriate co-location, both because of the religious symbolism of cross and sheep, and also to bring a touch of rurality/serenity to the centre of the town," corporate director Kevin Douglas says in a report.
The report also says that every penny of the Malvern Millions has now been allocated or spent, so the cost of the project would have to come out of the council's dwindling capital funding pool. It is recommended that the suggestion should not be pursued.
