AN Upton-upon-Severn wine merchant has been named the new head of a regional wine and food society.
Alan Goadby succeeds the Earl of Bradford as the new head of the Heart of England Branch of International Wine and Food Society.
The branch was formed in 1999 by Evening News wine columnist Philippe Boucheron and restauranteur Lord Bradford.
Mr Goadby is a former chef and restaurateur who has worked in the Midland wine trade for some time.
He established his own business, Upton-upon-Severn Wines, a few years ago.
The society was founded in 1933 and is the oldest, largest and best-known Epicurean organisation in the world.
It recognises that a proper appreciation of good food and wine is an essential part of personal contentment and health.
