MALVERN College pupil Roko Mijic, aged 17, who lives at Abbey Road, Malvern, won the individual rifle trophy at the annual schools shooting championships at Bisley last Thursday.
Thirty three schools competed in the annual schools' competition at Bisley, shooting with 5.56mm calibre rifles.
The individual event is called the Spencer-Mellish competition and follows the inter-schools team rifle competition which is open to any school with a combined cadet force.
Malvern College master in charge of shooting Frank Harriss said: "One shooter from each school takes part and initially Roko tied for first score with three others. Five more shots left him with the same score as one other so they were forced into a 'sudden death' situation which became intensely exciting. First they both got inners, which is just outside the bull, the Roko got a magpie - outside that, and our hearts sank. Fortunately his opponent also got one, and then they both got bulls. Finally Roko got a bull and his opponent an inner to our immense delight and relief."
Roko Mijic has been captain of shooting at the College.
