THREE members of Malvern Chasers, the orienteering club of The Chase, competed in the open class event in last Sunday's Avon Schools Relay Championships at Ashton Court.
The intrepid trio pulled off a surprise victory against strong opposition from local school teams from Bristol Grammar and Kingswood School, Bath.
The team of Daniel Hartmann, Michael Braim and Michael Pullen, encouraged by family and other Chase members, completed their combined course ahead of the field to collect the relay cup.
In 20 years of competition the relay cup had eluded the Chase and it was fitting that as the club approaches their 21st year they should have collected the honour.
Also competing at the same event were the Wyche C of E Primary School coming a very creditable third in the primary schools section with Heather Hartmann, Rosie Hartmann and William Turner all successfully competing their 1.5km white course.
