THE body of a man has been found in the River Avon between Pershore and Evesham.
Boaters spotted the corpse floating in the river at Wood Norton at around 3.30pm yesterday.
Police and forensic experts were called to the scene and the man's body was brought ashore with the help of other emergency services.
Firefighters from Worcester, Evesham and Pershore joined ambulance crews at the riverside.
The Severn Area Rescue Association also launched a boat and helped recover the body with a fire service boat crew.
A police spokesman said around 12 officers were sent to the scene after receiving a call from a member of the public.
He said the man had been identified, but declined to name him because there were still further investigations to be made. Inquiries were due to continue today.
