CHILDREN at a Worcestershire school celebrated a French national holiday to help develop their language skills.
Year 7 pupils at The Chantry High School in Martley held a French picnic in honour of Bastille Day.
The picnic on Friday, July 12, included a variety of Gallic food and an array of red, white and blue.
There were also competitions and prizes for the best picnic displays and costumes.
"They all enjoyed it," said language teacher Janice Hudson.
"I was amazed at how much effort they had put into it.
"They did really well as they only had a budget of £2 each."
The pupils labelled all the food in French and also enjoyed a French quiz.
Bastille Day is celebrated in France on July 14 and marks the anniversary of the beginning of the French Revolution.
