A LORRY swerved violently across a busy Worcester road before ploughing through 60ft of car showroom wall.

Miraculously, no other drivers or pedestrians were injured as the orange and black skip loader lorry veered off the A38 Bromyard Road this morning.

It smashed repeatedly into the wall, sending bricks flying in all directions and causing damage to several new cars at the Startin Honda car dealership.

The road was blocked and the driver of the lorry has been taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital, but neither his injuries not his condition are known.

The accident took place during rush hour, at around 7.30am, and Paul Zelaskowski, sales manager at Startin Honda, said he was thankful no one had been killed.

"The lorry was heading into town before it cut straight across traffic on to the other side of the road," he said.

"It hit the wall, travelled further and then hit the wall once more.

"It was amazing that at a rush hour time it did not hit any other on coming traffic when it came across the road."

"And at this time there are normally school children waiting at the bus stop outside the wall where the lorry hit.

"It is so lucky that no one was waiting there for a bus at the time."

Mr Zelaskowski said he was frustrated that around seven cars had been badly damaged and scratched by, "bricks flying in all directions".

He said all the cars would need to be repaired and a body repairman was currently looking at the extent of the damage.

As yet, Mr Zelaskowski said he had no idea as to the total repair bill, but that it would definitely come to a considerable amount.
