ONE of the poorest countries in the world is set to benefit from the generosity of two of the region's rotary clubs.
Worcester South Rotary Club is sending a huge container of medical equipment and supplies to the town of Masindi in central Uganda.
At the same time, Hereford Wye Valley Rotary Club will be sending an ambulance to the town.
Masindi, which is 200km north west of the capital Kampala, has a population of 400,000 but is only served by two hospitals.
Old hospitals
One is 80 years old and the other is 40.
Worcester South sent an ambulance to the town two years ago. Before that, there was no ambulance to serve the region.
The equipment it is sending to Uganda was auctioned off by the NHS Trust following the closure of Ronkswood and Castle Street hospitals.
The new ambulance will go to Kiryandongo Hospital and will supplement the ambulance donated by Worcester South to Masindi Hospital.
