The most spectacular event on the World Superbike calendar is back, annually attracting crowds in excess of 100,000 - this year's event at Brands Hatch on July 26-28 is set to be bigger and better than ever.
The FIM Superbike World Championship sees the best riders in the world racing the most exotic race-prepared bikes in the world. With a grid full of machines capable of reaching speeds of up to 180mph and producing in the region of 180 brake horsepower, the European round of the championship promises to be a breathtaking spectacle.
The Shuttle/Times and News has joined forces with Octagon Motorsports to offer readers the chance of winning one of four pair of weekend trackside passes to the event worth £70 per pair.Last year's event saw a sea of orange descend on Brands, when thousands of Neil Hodgson fans turned up to support their hero. Neil won't want to leave fans disappointed and will be desperate to be on the pace.
Reigning champion Troy Bayliss has had a dream season so far, taking a record-breaking number of wins. The rain-soaked Silverstone meeting saw a spectacle of riding from Troy - having fallen off twice in the first race, he went on to clinch fifth position, and then a win in the second race.
Closely shadowed by former champion "Texan Tornado" Colin Edwards, a tough and uncompromising competitor, who's fired-up for a good result at Brands - the circuit where he wrapped-up his 2000 championship with a race win.
America's Ben Bostrom, will also be lining-up on the grid to battle for the coveted superbike crown and will be looking forward to a return to the circuit which gave him a double win last year.
Noriuka Haga, Ruben Xaus, young British superstar James Toseland and Neil Hodgson's long-time adversary Chris 'The Stalker" Walker are also sure to be right on the case as the championship reaches its halfway point in the season.
The hotly contested World Supersport Championship, the European Superstocks and the World Sidecar Championship will provide an action-packed weekend for all the family to enjoy.
There will also be plenty of entertainment off-track with trade sites, a funfair, karting and the Po Boys Concert on Saturday night.
