THE former spokesman for Birmingham International Airport's shareholders has been appointed chairman of the company's consultative committee.
Viv Astling will lead the committee, which provides a forum for discussion on development and operational issues affecting the hundreds of Worcestershire passengers which use the airport, and nearby residents.
He replaces Councillor Fred Hunt.
Set up nearly 20 years ago, the ACC was launched to ensure open and fair representation of the full range of airport users and local interests in the consultation process.
Involvement
"Having been secretary of the airport's shareholders forum, and leading the shareholder's officer team during the restructuring of the Airport Company in 1997, I've always had a close involvement and interest in the airport's business," he said.
"The Consultative Committee plays a crucial role in ensuring the airport continues to operate efficiently, whilst moderating its impact on local communities.
"With the forthcoming release of the Government's paper on regional air services, the role of all those on the committee will be vital."
