HOW I agree with the comments made in The Phillpott File regarding Worcester's Shrub Hill and Foregate Street stations.
I have lived in the area for more than 35 years. Both stations have always been dilapidated, creating a terrible first impression for visitors to the otherwise lovely city of Worcester.
What a chance Worcester is missing with the new Quayside development as I feel that the first priority should be a new 21st Century-style station on the old Cattle Market site.
The railway runs straight by this area and would give excellent access to the racecourse, Quayside, CrownGate by means of covered-in see-through bridges.
These would be similar to airport and motorway bridges. Visitors would be able to go direct into CrownGate across the bottom of The Butts.
Racegoers arriving by train from either Birmingham or Hereford could cross Croft Road to the racecourse or riverside.
Surely there are some forward-thinking members in Worcester City Council who can see the possibilities for such a scheme and must know of several consortiums who would be very eager to give Worcester a fine new station and landmark for the future?

Droitwich.
