REDDITCH Kingfisher went top of Division Two of the Birmingham Municipal 17-24 league with the narrowest of wins over previously unbeaten leaders Cocks Moor Woods.
The town club beat the leaders by 282 stableford points to 281 at home after home wins over Pipe Hayes and Boldmere and an away loss at Hatchford Brook.
Richard Allen amassed 43 points, Adrian Whadcoat and Alan Woodall who both scored 38 and Phil Turner (37), were ably backed up by strong performances from Steve Harris, Rob Evans, Keith Smith and Jeff Horne.
THE Entaco Needle Company held their Annual Golf Day at Stratford Oaks Golf Club.
The winner of the Entaco Trophy was Rob Rawal with Rob Wharrad second and Ali Morgan third.
Entaco Guest Trophy winner was Dave Lloyd with Dave Rice second and Gary Scarborough third.
Other prizes on the day were won by: Neil Coldicott, Steve Cullen, Bob Tyler, John Evans, Colin McKinnley, Dave Rice, Gary Scarborough and Ali Morgan.
THE Abbey Golf Club Ladies Section played their first inter-club competition against Bromsgrove senior Ladies.
The Abbey Ladies, the majority of whom are new golfers with high handicaps, surpassed expectations by winning the match 3 to 1.
