DEAR EDITOR - Through the Letters page may I thank everyone involved in preparing Droitwich Spa for the recent visit of the regional Britain in Bloom judges.
This year there has been a real team spirit with many people helping to make the town shine.
Both County and District Councils made special efforts to smarten up the town. Wychavon's Lido Park flowerbeds are first class and well worth a visit. The town council's planting, by John Quinn and his assistant John Simmonds, is superb - despite an exceptionally cold spring.
Thanks to the efforts of Cllr. Glennise Noyes, a member of the Community and Ameneties Committee, we were able to take judges to two excellent school projects - Witton Middle and Chawson First, where the enthusiasm of the pupils was much in evidence.
St. Peters First School, in partnership with the District Parks Department, carried out a magnificent environmental project in Lido Park and this was also included in our entry, as was the bulb planting project of St Joseph's Primary.
Various sponsors gave generous support and we were able to take the judges to an impressive environmental project at Excel on the Trading Estate.
Last, but by no means least, we congratulate the many residents and businesses who decked their frontages with a brilliant array of flowers.
Not everyone is perfect in the Spa but, on this occasion, those of us who escorted the judges on their tour had good cause to be proud of our town.
Cllr Pam Davey,
Leader - Droitwich Town Council.
