At the May meeting the resolutions which would be considered at the IGM in Brighton in June were presented by Elizabeth Mitchell and Pat Tonks, and voted on after lively discussion.
At the June gathering - an open meeting - we welcomed 25 visitors, and so presented a large audience for our speaker Mr S Alpren who spoke on the subject of antiques. He told us about his varied experiences in work, which sometimes took him to the other side of the world, before settling down in the Midlands and concentrating on dealing in antiques.
His enormous store of knowledge of all kinds of antiques and of the art of collecting was very apparent, and at the close of his talk he gave appraisals of the many small items that members and visitors had brought, providing some interesting and occasionally startling valuations.
During May, our Old Time Music Hall troupe were the guests of the Wychbold Darby and Joan Club at their meeting in the Royal British Legion Hall, who gave us a wonderful reception as we presented our show. Our president has received a letter of thanks from Sheila Walker, on behalf of the Darby and Joan members who are looking forward to the next time.
On June 11 a successful and pleasant day's coach outing to Leamington Spa and Hatton Country Park was enjoyed by members and friends.
