BURCOT mums and their children are working hard to generate £10,000 for a new village play area.
The community's ad-hoc mothers' group wants to buy new equipment for an area of land behind the well-used village hall, in Alcester Road.
They already have £5,000 in the kitty and hope to bridge the gap with Lottery funds.
In the past 12 months, the busy mums have held money-spinning events for village children, secured charity grants and struck a deal with HM Hewell Grange Prison, at Tardebigge.
The prison is offering free labour, worth £2,000, and inmates will help put the equipment in place - starting next Monday.
Burcot youngsters are also doing their bit by sending posters to the Queen and asking if the monarch will donate any cash towards their project.
Mandy Johnson, of Alcester Road, has co-ordinated the scheme and hopes the final funds can be sought by the time building starts.
"We've had lots of support from local firms and villagers are supporting the playground initiative.
"It will be a wonderful facility for Burcot."
