A SPA schoolgirl was celebrating this week after being rewarded for her efforts in the Young Enterprise Scheme.
Katie Leech, a student at Droitwich High School, in Briar Mill, was awarded a 'True Grit' award from the South Worcestershire branch of Young Enterprise.
Katie, 17, ran a company called Silveroses, which produced gift boxes and sold them at craft fares and in school.
She was recognised for her hard work and went to a dinner in Worcester this month to receive her award, trophy and £25 cheque.
Tim McConnell, who acted as business adviser for Silveroses and nominated Katie, said: "Katie was an enthusiast from the start but, as others fell by the wayside, she seemed to grow into her role and was prepared to put more and more time and energy into making sure the company survived and gave a good account of itself.
"It has been a real pleasure for me to see her blossom in the role," he added.
Katie, too, is proud of her work.
She said: "Trying to keep Silveroses afloat was hard, especially as some people lost interest as the project progressed.
"I was determined though that the company was not going to go under and it was so nice to be recognised for the work that I put in."
Katie will now become an adviser to the students who take part in next year's scheme.
